Patch Notes Escape from Tarkov Update 0.14.9.1 has been released, bringing some major changes to the armor system that has plagued players for months.
Although not the main focus of the patch, the armor changes are the most impactful changes when it comes to the game. In the last wipe, the armor system was completely reworked, adding plates to some equipment and making each armor only protect the part of the body it covers instead of the whole body. This was initially seen as a good change that would increase the realism of the game, but… TarkovPlayers soon realized that being unprotected and getting shot in the armpit was more annoying than engaging in a bit of gamification.
The 14.9.1 patch notes revealed that the same armor types now protect the same areas, including the armpits. All armor now has larger colliders on the front, back, and sides, providing better protection for the body and preventing players from being shot directly in the chest while wearing the armor.
We’ll have to wait until the servers are back online to see how well this is implemented, but at least on paper, this appears to be a positive change. Tarkov You will feel less irritated.
Elsewhere in the patch notes, loot boxes have been added Escape from TarkovBut don’t worry, there are no monetization options and it looks like you can earn it for free. Escape from Tarkov Arena Unlocks loot boxes for use on your main Tarkov Unlock in-game Arena You can get it from the workbench in the hideout.
There are four types of crates: Equipment crates provide armor and wearable items, Weapon crates provide weapons, attachments, grenades and ammo, Supply crates provide food, medicine and crafting items, and finally Valuable Crates provide valuables, keys and key cards.
This seems like a loot box implementation that’s actually worthwhile, and it’s a surprisingly well-done implementation of loot boxes, given that there doesn’t appear to be an option to directly purchase them, which is a pleasant surprise considering how many microtransactions Battlestate Games has added in recent months.
Rounding out the patch are some new perks for Edge of Darkness and Unheard Edition owners. Both groups who upgrade from EoD to Unheard will see a 30% faster insurance return time and be granted a unique dog tag design for their PMC. Unheard Edition owners will also get the highly anticipated Cultist Jacket clothing item.
