There have already been plenty of reports about big changes coming to the iPhone 16 series, but a new report goes into detail about one of the most important aspects: the battery, claiming that the iPhone 16 Pro will benefit more than any other model in the new smartphone series.
According to Weibo leaker Instant Digital, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s battery will be 5.74% larger than the 15 Pro Max, while the iPhone 16 Pro’s cell will be a massive 9.25% increase compared to the current model.
This new leak lines up with previous reports of different battery sizes for the iPhones, making the interesting news that the iPhone 16 Plus will have a smaller battery than the current one.
The new report only focuses on the two Pro models, with no mention of the iPhone 16 Plus or iPhone 16. The specs, if you like numerical granularity, mean the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 3,577mAh battery compared to the current iPhone 15 Pro’s 3,274mAh.
Meanwhile, the 4,422mAh cell in the iPhone 15 Pro Max gets an upgrade to a 4,676mAh capacity cell. The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s battery is bigger and lasts longer, so you probably won’t be bothered by the extra capacity, so a nearly 6% increase is nice.
But an improvement of more than 9% over the iPhone 16 Pro could make a noticeable difference, even assuming upcoming Apple Intelligence features use more power.
It’s also important to remember that Apple has been successful in improving battery life by making its software more efficient.
MacRumors’ Tim Hardwick points out that other reports have also suggested longer battery life, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max rumored to get 30 hours of use on a single charge, an hour more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
With reports of significantly faster charging speeds, improved Wi-Fi, and a new battery design, there’s a lot to look forward to with the iPhone 16 series. And here’s the exact launch date.
