With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 family scheduled for early 2025, excitement is building in the community over the many leaked design hints and specs. But one detail this week will disappoint many…Samsung is still considering the Eynos 2500 as a chipset for some new Galaxy devices.
Samsung Galaxy S25+ story
Following the appearance of the Exynos 2500 chipset-powered Galaxy S25+ on Geekbench, it has reappeared on the online benchmarking service for Exynos devices this week, hinting at continued testing by Samsung. It is worth noting that the actual performance remains almost similar to the previous benchmark.
At this point in the development cycle, the focus is on optimizing the code. For example, it ensures battery life, manages excess heat generated within the handset, and addresses cellular and local connectivity issues. In that case, being able to maintain stable benchmark scores on a more efficient device would be welcome.
Powerful Samsung Galaxy S25+ selection
But benchmarks of Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset in the Galaxy S25+ show one performance issue. Compared to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is widely believed to be a replacement, Samsung’s chip is noticeably weaker, with a 20-40 percent difference in single-core and multi-core benchmarks.
It is unlikely that consumers will be able to choose which models they can purchase. Previously, devices in each region were shipped with either Exynos or Qualcomm, with no option for consumers to signal their preference. There is no sign that this policy will change.
Not all Samsung Galaxy S25+ are the same
Many in the community were anticipating a leak over the summer that Samsung would feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chipset in all of its phones. That way you’ll get the same performance all over the world. Samsung hasn’t made a final decision public as the phone hasn’t been released yet, but ongoing benchmarks suggest the old split-chip policy remains.
Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and S25 Ultra at its next Galaxy Unwrapped event in early 2025, where it should also debut the next-gen Galaxy AI.
