Origin of today’s Wordle
words snoop Originated in the early 19th century, derived from Dutch snoopymeaning “to pry open” or “to eat secretly.” It probably entered the English language to describe someone who interferes or investigates in a nosy or secretive way, and eventually became synonymous with spying or snooping into someone else’s business.
